Hi guy's any of you collect artist pencil drawings, originals not prints, I think pencil is a great medium in art.
Here is one of mine it's called Bader versus Galland and has 23 Battle of Britain signatures. Look forward to seeing what you have.

Yeah the detail on that NT P-51 is sweet no doubt about that. _________________ Eagle Day, August 15 1940

I love pencil art. In many cases, I like the pencil work better than the paintings. I think RTs pencil work is outstanding. I am sure that many of you are familiar with the lovely and talented Chicoartist. Well...Mr. Wade Myers has some incredible pencil work! I haven't obtained any of his original work yet (I though long and hard about it a few times) but I hope to get some eventually.
When I visited the Military Gallery a couple of years ago, I got to meet Robert Taylor and see a few of his original pencil sketches. He did one that featured Gabby Gabreski standing on the wing of his P-47. It was perfect! Once the drooling and shaking stopped, I was o.k. The cost was high (but not anywhere near as high as his paintings), but if I had the money, I would have taken it.
I don't know if many of you remember some of the pencil sketches depicted in RTs books. There is one of note that has a few RAF pilots lounging around in the grass next to a spitfire, waiting for a scramble. that is my all time favorite. I told Robert as much....we looked at the picture and talked about it for awhile. I told him that I thought he should do more pencil work and publish it. (not that anyone is going to listen to me), but hey....thats how I feel ...and he should know it. MG started to issue more pencil work this past year. I am still waiting for them to issue my spitfire work though.
Regards,

WOW! That has got to be the sketch that all other sketches are judged by.
Having been to Duxford before, this looks like a view from the east end of the field looking northwest.
That P-51 looks SO inviting! |

I wish I knew how Trudgian sketches like that . When you see one of his sketches up close you realise that every single pencil stroke is *perfect*, almost like a machine has done it (that's a compliment!). They are really amazing.

Here's some more for you ... keep in mind that these are flash pictures taken at a slight angle:
Detail view of Jim's pencil study:
The master himself, R. G. Smith. It's confusing here at first, because I wanted maximum detail, but the gray outer area isn't the wall, but yet another mat ... there's a nice dark frame outside of the image area you see here:
And a detail view:
