Delays in approving new registrations - Apology!

We have had a quite a number of new member registrations over the past few weeks - thank you for your interest in joining our community! However, there was a delay in approving your registrations as my main computer crashed and it was only fixed up again recently. I apologise for the delay.

Recent site inaccessibility

This site was recently hacked into, despite having what we thought were secure measures in place. The hackers installed files and folders in our directories which created a phishing site, masquerading as a bank so that unwitting visitors would try to login with their usre IDs and passwords, which the hackers would steal and use to log into the real accounts and probably empty them.

New Premium Subscriber - Allan Forbes

I would like to welcome Allan Forbes as our newest Premium Subscriber to eHangar.com. A former professional photographer, Allan now paints a wide variety of aviation subjects, as seen on his eHangar.com minisite and homepage. Many of these aviation art pieces are now being offered for sale as prints.

eHangar.com v2.0 - feedback wanted

Its time to revamp the site to take advantage of the new Internet technologies. I would like to ask eHangar.com members for their feedback on what they would like to see in the new version of this site. I have created a new forum section to discuss this. Announcing new forum mod - fuzzy

I take great pleasure in announcing the appointment of fuzzy, aka Kurt, as a forum moderator. Fuzzy has been a member of eHangar.com since March 2005 and is a regular with over 900 posts. He has also shown great commitment in contributing to the site and helping out in our community with his insightful comments in his posts. Thank you, fuzzy, for your active participation and valuable contributions to our forum, and now for taking on the role of forum mod.

1,000th Member Milestone

We would like to welcome "wildblueflyingbear" as eHangar.com's 1000th registered member - congratulations! :) The site also achieved another milestone on 11 August 2009 when we crossed the 10 million pageviews threshold.

Right On Time by Steve Heyen

Australia-based aviation artist Steve Heyen has released a limited edition Giclee print of his recent work, "Right On Time". Depicting the Republic P-47D-10 Thunderbolt fighter flown by Lt. Fred Christensen, of the 62nd Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group USAAF over France in 1944, the print measures 28" X 18".

Artists Gallery - two new fields added

I've added two new fields to the Artists Gallery section - Artist name and dimensions of the original art work. I realised that while viewing the art works submitted by our artist members, there was no way of knowing who posted the art as only the filename and album names were displayed previously. I had to resort many times to deciphering the signatures on the art work.

Welcome, Vincent, as new forum mod!

I am very pleased to announce that Vincent Meslet, aka Frenchie, has been added to our team of moderators. Vincent has been a member of eHangar.com since Feb 16, 2005, making him one of our 'veteran' members with over 700 posts. An aviation artist, he has contributed in many ways to the site - in his regular WIP threads, his comments, and his proactive concern for all aspects of eHangar.com. Thank you, Vincent, for all your past contributions to eHangar.com, and for now stepping up to take on this new additional role on the site!

New Member Registration email bug fixed

Since the move to the new server at the beginning of the year, we've had the problem of the portal script not being able to send out notification emails that new registrants' applications have been approved. We've just managed to get this bug fixed, and now hopefully, all email notifications can get through. We have currently more than 30 new accounts in limbo that can now go through.

To these new members, please accept my apologies for the delay and any inconvenience and frustration caused. I've just sent an email update to all of you; if you have not received it yet, please contact me so I can approve your registration manually.
